What time does the TC 10K race start?
The TC 10K begins at 8:00am at the corner of Southgate and Quadra Streets. (see race map for details.)
Where is the start line for the Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Fun Run?
Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Fun Run starts at 10:00am. Kids meet at the front of the Legislative Grounds at 9:30 am on the West side near Quebec Street.
Can I register on race day?
No race day registrations. Registration ends at 6:00pm on Saturday April 24th, at the Fitness Expo. Location TBD.

I do not see my name on the confirmation list – what do I do?
Look up your name under:
If you don’t see your team listed, view the TC 10K Team list.
If you have mailed or dropped your registration form off just a few weeks prior to race day and do not see it on the confirmation list – THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM – it takes about 2 – 3 weeks to process forms. Just keep checking and if it does not appear, please do not worry – your registration will still be in processing and your Race Package will be ready for you when you get to Race Package Pick Up on Friday April 23 or Saturday April 24 at the Fitness Expo. If there is a problem, we will fix it then and there.
Where is Race Package Pick Up? Where do I get my number, T-shirt and chip?
Race Package Pick Up is at Harbour Towers. It is open from 12:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday April 23rd from 10:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday April 24th. Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Run participants also pick up at this time and place.
Can I pick up a Race Package for someone else?
YES! As long as they are pre-registered.
Where can we park on RACE DAY?
Park east of the race route and walk to the start line on Southgate Street at Quadra. There will also be parking in James Bay – access to James Bay is at Douglas and Superior Streets.
Can I exchange my T-shirt because it is too small/big?
YES. There will be s shirt swap table at the Post-Race festival on Government Street, in front of the Empress Hotel following the race.
Is there somewhere that I can leave my belongings before the race?
Yes, at the GEAR CHECK table and you can drop off your belongings the morning of the race at the Gear Check at the tent on Government Street between Belleville and Superior Street. You can pick up your belongings from the Gear Check tent on Government Street following the race.
How do I ensure that I have the correct timing Chip?
Make sure the number on the LABEL on your bib (not the bib number) matches the number on your Chip. Chips cannot be replaced or exchanged on race day. Exchanges must be made in person at the Solutions Desk at Race Package Pick Up before 6:00pm on Saturday, April 24 at the Fitness Expo.
Can I get another timing Chip on race day if I forget mine at home?
No. There will be no chip exchanges or replacements made on race morning.
No Chip = No Official Results.
What is the ChampionChip Timing system?
The ChampionChip is a tiny transponder encased in plastic with a unique identity number. It’s waterproof, so is perfect for all weather and running conditions. You simply attach the chip to your shoe with the Zap Straps provided and it records the time it takes you to get from start to finish no matter where in the pack you are, so you no longer need to deduct the time it takes to get to the start from your finish time.
Do I need a Timing Chip to participate in the TC10K?
Yes. Only Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Fun Run participants do not need a timing chip.
What do I do with the Timing Chip after the run?
NEW FOR 2010! Once you finish the race keep moving to avoid congestion. You no longer need to return your chip at the Finish line, the chip is a disposable one time use chip. Please wear your chip FLAT against your shoelace using the supplied zap strap to attach it to your laces. There will be buckets available in the finish area for those runners that wish to recycle their chips.
Will I be charged if I don’t return the Timing Chip?

Do Runners and Walkers line up together?
No, runners line up in their time divisions on Southgate from Quadra to Douglas. Competitive and recreational walkers have a separate staging area on Academy Close and Quadra Street back to Convent Place in the ActNow Walkers Zone. All participants in the walking category must start from the ActNow Walkers Zone, regardless of estimated time.
How do I know I’m in the correct time zone at the start line?
Use your previous TC10K or the time from another sanctioned event to guide you. Stand BEHIND the time banner that indicates the time you figure you will take to finish the race. Baby joggers MUST start in the ActNow Walkers Zone on Quadra Street and Academy Close north of Southgate.
How do I start in the same zone as my friend?
To start in the same zone, you both must select the same estimated finish time on your entry forms. If you are different levels of ability, you must choose the zone appropriate for the slower runner.
Safety: What about Baby Joggers?
For safety purposes, participants with strollers, baby joggers or recreational wheelchairs MUST start in the Act Now Walkers Zone on Academy Close or Quadra Street north of Southgate. Helmets are encouraged. You must accept the risks of participating in a race with up to 10,000 entrants. Please read the release and waiver carefully before entering.
Baby Joggers must keep to the right of the road along the course. Those in front of you have the right away. Please be respectful of this.
Only runners, walkers, wheelchairs are permitted. Dogs, skateboards, wagons, in-line skates, scooters, roller skis, Nordic walking poles, bicycles and vehicles are strictly prohibited. Participants with these items will be removed from the course and will be disqualified.
Do the Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Fun Run participants get a Timing Chip or a competition number?
No, the kids get a T-shirt, a goody bag and ribbon, but do not need a competition number or a chip. The Thrifty Foods 1.5K Family Fun Run is a participation run – everyone who finishes will get ribbons, there are no first or second (etc.) placers. Everyone is a winner!
